The task
Thinking back on the course assignments you’ve completed in your studies, how has your journey been regarding feedback on your work from the outside world?
So far, I’ve mainly received feedback from teachers on the forum and my husband, who has been my greatest help throughout this entire process. I often look for feedback when I already know that what I have is not quite working or when I need reassurance that I am on the right track, so I am usually happy to get some clarity, direction, and ideas for improvement. I think I’ve only felt frustrated when the feedbacks I received were contradicting each other and left me confused. However, I imagine that getting feedback from clients will be a lot more difficult.
Write a short paragraph on your experience with feedback and how you’ve uncovered parts of yourself you did not even know existed. Do you think you have grown?
Yes, I have definitely grown a lot, especially when it comes to time management and structure. The quality of my work has also improved over time.
During most projects, there was a time when I felt a bit lost and struggled with decision making, but the best part was seeing myself finish every time. I don’t believe I have ever tried this hard in school and I have also never been this interested in the subjects I was studying. I’ve become more diligent and did not even spare myself from complete exhaustion to finish projects to a standard I could stand by. Although I am never fully satisfied, it’s important to me to do my best, even if it means staying up all night to complete tasks.
Are you ready for the outside world and its opinions, and do you feel you have enough confidence to stand your ground if needed?
I don’t think I am ready, haha, but ready or not, I will be completing school soon.
Through my studies, I have gained a general understanding of the design process that will help me reason and defend my choices; however, real confidence will only come with experience and knowledge.
