1. My Graphic Design Aspiration:
  2. I picture myself as a graphic designer who finds joy in the elegance of minimalist and contemporary designs. My dream job would be to work with a team of designers on creative projects. Within the team, I would like to have independent responsibilities where I could exercise some level of creative freedom (at least over time). I would like to have some variety in my work, but also find what I am best at and be able to specialize.
  3. Preferred Clients:
In an ideal scenario, I would opt to collaborate with clients actively seeking a graphic designer for inventive solutions, as opposed to relying solely on their own digital development concepts. I find it beneficial when clients place trust in the design process, looking beyond surface aesthetics and acknowledging the essential purpose behind the design.
  4. Areas for Growth:
  5. I recognize several areas where I can grow to achieve this, including becoming more proficient with design tools and software, problem solving, sparking my creativity and idea generation, learning more about design history and the design rules (in order to one day be able to break them). I also need improvement in making confident design decisions, streamlining my design processes, refining layout design, and improving my research techniques.
  6. Steps to Grow:
  7. Achieving my design goals will require dedication. I plan to invest time and effort into acquiring technical skills and gaining hands-on experience. Additionally, I’m committed to not just spotting design issues but effectively resolve them. Learning from both successful projects and setbacks are essential for my growth.
  8. Favorite Projects:
  9. My favorite projects were the more complex semester exams, a handful of poster designs (LTs), a short interior design magazine project (LT), and some photography. However, I’m still in the process of figuring out where my strengths lie and what I can excel at the most with some hard work and experience. One thing that truly piques my interest is brand design. I am also interested in designing posters, album covers, brochures, and packaging.

MY IKIGAI

  • What I Love: I enjoy the initial phases of a project, coming up with ideas and setting the direction for the design. I also love delivering a final product. I like perfection as well. 😀 Too bad it doesn’t exist.
  • What I’m Good At: This is a really difficult one for me to spot so I tend to rely on feedback from others. Lately I’ve been getting compliments on my use of color, suggesting that it’s a strength of mine. Although these were related to my interior design skills, this is an important skill in graphic design as well. Another strength might be that I am usually able to spot flaws and am aware when a design is not quite there yet. I have also been told that I have good taste.
  • What the World Needs: In the design world, skillful designers are important. I can contribute by creating visually appealing and impactful designs.
  • What I Can Be Paid For: Proficiency in at least one or more areas of graphic design can be highly valuable, potentially leading to income opportunities.
